Dr. Hayley Favre, M.D. Board-Eligible Ophthalmologist

Dr. Hayley Favre joined Eye Associates of the South’s team in 2023 as an Ophthalmologist who is passionate about comprehensive eye care with a focus on cataracts and glaucoma. She is the only full-time, fellowship trained glaucoma specialist on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Dr. Favre obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with manga cum laude honors at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. She had her first medical experience working as a student athletic trainer for four years with the Fighting Irish football team. She obtained her medical degree in the top quartile of her class at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. She then completed her internship at Brookwood Baptist Health System in Birmingham, AL prior to an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, TX.

Dr. Favre then pursued additional training in the specialty of glaucoma by completing a fellowship at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA under the accomplished Dr. Ze Zhang. Dr. Favre has been selected to present her glaucoma research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Glaucoma Society (AGS) and Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) conferences. Her submission of the endoscopic removal of a lens responsible for Uveitic-Glaucoma-Hyphema (UGH) syndrome was selected as a Top 5 surgical video at the AGS conference in 2021.

Dr. Favre is certified in the practice of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) including Omni viscodilation/trabeculotomy, iStent, and Hydrus devices which can be combined with cataract surgery. She performs filtering surgeries such as Xen gel stent, tube shunt, and trabeculectomy. She is also skilled in the use of the YAG laser to perform yag capsulotomy, laser peripheral iridotomy, and selective laser trabeculoplasty.

She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, Women in Ophthalmology, and the Mississippi Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Favre sees patients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Eye Associates of the South’s Biloxi clinic and the remaining days of the week at the Ocean Springs clinic.

Originally from Alexandria, LA, Dr. Favre is married to a native of Long Beach, Mississippi, Dr. Trace Favre. They reside in Long Beach with their 2 daughters and son. They are both active in the Mississippi Gulf Coast community and are proud to call the coast home.
